01/24/2024

Earlier this month, the Akron Municipal Court Judges appointed Attorney Joseph Mittica to serve as a full-time Magistrate. Administrative/Presiding Judge Annalisa S. Williams administered the oath of office on Thursday, January 18, 2024.

Magistrates are non-elected judicial officers and are appointed by the Judges of the Court. Akron Municipal Court Magistrates serve all six Akron Municipal Court Judges and preside over small claims, civil, traffic and criminal matters.

Magistrate Mittica earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 2012 and his Juris Doctor from Cleveland State University’s Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 2015.

Prior to joining the Akron Municipal Court, Magistrate Mittica served the Summit County Prosecutor’s Office for eight years.

“Magistrate Mittica’s professional experience and his passion for bringing access to justice pair incredibly well with the Akron Municipal Court,” said Judge Williams. “We are grateful to add him to our impressive staff roster.”

Magistrate Mittica and his family reside in Copley Township.
