09/11/2026
Akron Municipal Court’s Administrative/Presiding Judge David Hamilton is partnering with the Akron Urban League and the Summit County Legal Defenders to offer on-site expungements for those who qualify. The event will take place on Friday, November 6, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
The event will be held at the Akron Urban League, which is located at 440 Vernon Odom Blvd. in Akron.
Fines and costs may be waived for qualifying individuals.
Former Ohio State Buckeyes Running Back Maurice Clarett will be a guest speaker at this event. Clarett was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year for his outstanding performance during the Buckeyes’ historic 2002 season when they won the BCS National Championship.
Clarett is now a public speaker who openly discusses his dismissal from The Ohio State University, his imprisonment and what inspired him to establish The Red Zone, a behavioral health agency in Youngstown, in 2016. He is deeply dedicated to mental health advocacy, entrepreneurship and community development with a special focus on aiding homeless youth, senior citizens and expectant mothers. Clarett is a native of Youngstown and graduated from Warren G. Harding High School.
In addition to Clarett’s lecture, Summit County community organizations will have resource tables at the event.
“I am grateful to be serving alongside the Akron Urban League to grant expungements once again,” said Administrative/Presiding Judge David Hamilton. “Maurice Clarett’s journey is relatable to those who will be in attendance. His triumph over adversity is inspirational to all.”
Registration is preferred and the deadline to register is October 23, 2026 or until all spots are filled. Walk-ins are welcome the day of the event. The registration form can be found here.
